Hi! Welcome to my website! This is just the start of the website - I plan to use this website to hone and display programming skills. Some of the ideas I hope to implement for this site are:

Please feel free to come back soon!

Just a bit about me: I'm a programmer with over 12 years of experience, primarily in C++ for the Windows OS (Microsoft Foundation Classes, Win32). I also have certifications in .NET 3.5 for C#. And I've been dabbling in Javascript, and HTML/CSS.

The part I've really enjoyed about development was the role I frequently played, as a second-level support for the customer support staff. I helped analyze unique or new problems which the support staff couldn't resolve, whether by analyzing dump files, repeating the problem in the lab, or writing little utility apps to help provide more analytical data. Depending on the problem, I might work with the support staff to create a bug entry, or write up a workaround, or point out where there was some documentation difficulties.

The other part of development I enjoyed is the Agile paradigm which the last team I was on was using. The team did not—including myself—really have the knowledge and training to fully grasp how to use the Agile ideas, particularly in creating the goals for each cycle. But I really like the unit-testing part of things. If nothing else, writing the unit tests first helps clarify the requirements (important if the requirements presented are vague), and second, at a bare minimum, it helps to prevent/detect the bone-headed logic errors in the code (such as getting a conditional statement incorrect.)
